New Zealand Rocket Launch Makes History!
The successful launch of New Zealand’s first suborbital rocket has created history today by being the first rocket launched into space by a privately owned company in the southern hemisphere.
Atea-1 made its maiden voyage today after this morning’s delay due to a fuel problem. A small valve needed to be flown across from the mainland and was fitted by engineers before the rocket was refulled for another attempt. The delay was initially hoped to be three hours but this turned into seven and final clearance for countdown was given this afternoon.

Congratulations Rocket Lab and New Zealand. Nice looking bird. And with a hybrid no less. I am on an amateur team to launch an 8″ hybrid and on another team to launch a rocket into space. Again, congratulations.
