BP Oil Spill – Is it forgotten already?
The BP Deepwater oil spill – have we forgotten the second worst oil spill in recorded history already? It is understandable that people are sick of the whole affair: it was never good for anyone (or was it?) and it seems many people just want to move on. We are lead to believe the cleanup is all but complete, the local fisherman have been paid and everyone is happy. On the surface everything is rosey…
However, the fact is that most of the ocean is NOT AT the surface, and the long term damage may infact be worse than many people think. One wonders about the underwater oil plumes and the thousands of gallons of dispersant that were released into the environment. How many species have been pushed to the edge of extinction, or further? How long will it take for fish stocks to fully recover? Personally I would feel uncomfortable feeding my family fish taken from the Gulf for the next few years – who knows what contamination it might contain?
And what about the thousands of gallons of oil that were burnt off? Again, what damage to the environment? Is BP paying tax on all that carbon released into the atmosphere?
I wonder how many people will hold a grudge against BP, and for how long?
Even here in New Zealand, thousands of miles from the Gulf of Mexico, BP stations are virtually empty. The sense of ill-will towards the oil giant seems to be tangible, and probably justified, with vehicle owners passing by BP stations and heading into Caltex, Shell and Gull stations instead to full up. I certainly don’t feel motivated to pull into a BP station, spend $60 on premium and wish the staff the best of luck with the cleanup. Nope, I don’t feel motivated that way at all. I actually feel like driving on by those gas stations for a long, long time, and have a sneaky suspicion many others feel the same. I have a sneaky suspicion BP will pay for their mistake for many months, even years.
It could infact be years before the BP Deepwater oil spill is forgotten, and I don’t think it will ever be forgiven. I guess only time will tell.

New Zealand soccer – where to from here?
The All Whites have done us proud. That goes without saying. But now that our world cup has ended, does the glorious game really have a bright future in this country or, as many suspect, will it regress to the also-ran status of a few other not-so-kiwi games such as water polo, handball and endurance knitting?
Let’s face it – kiwis love the rough-and-tumble of rugby, the sweat and long thighs of netball, and getting really wet: sailing and women’s hockey.
Football, or let’s call it by its real name “soccer” is a game for pussies, when all said and done. Imagine a rugby player crying whenever an opposition player pushed him over. The ref would send him to the showers and call for his mother to be ready with the talc and a teddy bear.
Seriously, if soccer wants to be taken seriously in this country, players need to be rewarded and honoured for getting up when they get knocked down, not rewarded for lying on the ground and performing like little schoolgirls in front of the ref (no offense, girls). We all know the best way to beat a bully is to stand up to them once and punch them in the nose. Its not that I’m condoning violence here but the players need to let the referees call the game as they see it, not try to milk free kicks out of any little come-together.
Anyway, at the end of the day, europe can have its soccer – the real world plays and loves rugby. Roll on the rugby world cup 2011 right here in god’s own country. You can almost feel it already: Dying minutes of the final… A scrum just a few metres out from the line… They pack down… The crowd starts chanting “Black, black, black…” The push goes on, All Blacks have the shove…inches from the line…
Now, THERES real football

Is this the best Christmas ever?
You cannot escape Christmas anywhere: streets are lit up with coloured lights and neon stars, and it seems every second house is adorned with dazzling lighting displays that seem to be part of some great social competition – more expectations. So what if you’re just not into Christmas and see it as just another holiday? Is it really necessary to get caught up in all the hype?
I have been contemplating Christmas and the effects of the economic slowdown, with several points coming to mind. Buying gifts for all and sundry is out for many people this year due to tighter finances, and many of us are looking for other ways to add value to the holiday other than just throwing money at it.
Why do we get stressed out at Christmas?
A lot of stress is created when our situation doesn’t line up with our expectation. This is especially true at Christmas. For a lot of people, the family tradition of buying nice gifts for everyone we know has been a lifelong one, and learning to break it or replace it with something new has created an air of uncertainty – can we really change the way we do things and be happy with it?
For some of us, not knowing what to expecxt, or at least, expecting a bad experience makes us want to run and hide, or just flip the calendar; roll-on New Years!
Our materialistic society has made us value the gifting aspect of Christmas too much, with all the messages of how it is “better to give than receive”. We all know that warm glow when you give someone the perfect gift. So how are you supposed to feel when you are unable to give anything?
Of course, for the wealthy, this is never a problem. Are we right to assume then that those who can afford lots of nice presents this year are better people than those of us who cannot?
Should we boycott Christmas altogether?
For some of us, Christmas is and has always been a great time of year. Families getting together having lavish feasts and joyful times. At the core of the holiday though, is a religious celebration.
So what do we do if we’re not “religious” christians?
If we decide not to get into the spirit of Christmas, we are labelled as anti-christian, or grinches. Whatever happened to the live-and-let-live philosophy?
Surely anyone espousing the virtues of christianity should be able to accept other people’s right to have nothing to do with the holiday. I see the whole expectation element as a judgmental and hypocritical concept; just another way for self-righteous people to impose their will upon others.
Personally, I hate this time of year and can hardly wait for things to resort to normality.

Keep the focus on the Climategate scandal
It is important to keep the focus on the Climategate scandal for the timebeing.
With the Copenhagen Climate Conference in full swing, we need to keep the pressure on, keep spreading the word to every corner at least for the next couple of weeks. If we fail to make enough noise about it, then the carbon taxes WILL be imposed. It is imperative that Obama of the USA, John Key of New Zealand, and other world leaders do not sign a binding agreement.
Key’s New Zealand government has already passed emmissions trading legislation here, but having that revoked should not be too difficult once the Copenhagen agreement is quashed.
Remember, the reason these agreements must not be signed is that they impose massive, unjustifiable taxes on regular people who are just seeking to live their lives peacefully.
Here in New Zealand, the majority of intelligent, thinking people have never consciously subscribed to the climate change theory, but many of us have been guilty of just going with the flow, finding it easier to let politicians decide our fate.
I must applaud the efforts of one of our top media personalities though. Mr Leighton Smith, a talkshow host on the Newstalk ZB radio station has always been vocal about his opposition to the global warming/climate change theory, at least the part that assigns blame to humankind as the root cause of any change. Smith is a well respected talk host who runs a well grounded, level headed programme that has possibly the highest listener audience of any daily radio programme in the country.
How ironic or coincidental that Al Gore has now cancelled his scheduled keynote speech at the Copenhagen Climate Conference. Very interesting…

Take action on Climategate, it is up to us all
If you have not downloaded the Climategate emails for yourself yet then you need to do so fast and start reading.
They are available for free download here.
Also, you should watch Alex Jones’ video on Youtube for an overview and some details on the issue.
This is the single most important news event in modern history. One of the ironies is that the mainstream media channels is hushing it up. Unfortunately it’s an irony that we can’t afford to waste time on, we must take action.
You know that the Copenhagen Conference is happening right now, right? Well, you should realize that at that conference, they are attempting to sign global deals that subject us all to crazy carbon taxes. Carbon is the building block of all life!! What on earth are they doing?
What they are doing is creating a global tax network which is the first binding act of the global government.
I am not scaremongering here: this is the real deal.
Anyway, I have read a stack of the emails and they really show a concerted effort by a group of “scientists” to distort the facts, manipulate data, bully other dissenting scientists, and blatantly lie to make us believe that something is a proven fact where is really has never been proven.
If you have ever wanted to do ANYTHING really good in your life, now is the time to do it.
Download the emails and the other documents, read some of them and learn the truth about these lying ***** who are trying to control us.
Climategate is here, it’s now, and it is time for us to act.
Download the Climategate emails here:

New Zealand Rocket Launch Makes History!
The successful launch of New Zealand’s first suborbital rocket has created history today by being the first rocket launched into space by a privately owned company in the southern hemisphere.
Atea-1 made its maiden voyage today after this morning’s delay due to a fuel problem. A small valve needed to be flown across from the mainland and was fitted by engineers before the rocket was refulled for another attempt. The delay was initially hoped to be three hours but this turned into seven and final clearance for countdown was given this afternoon.

Is John Key avoiding Copenhagen because of the truth!
So John Key has declined requests for him to attend the Copenhagen Climate Conference. Perhaps he realises that the entire global warming issue has been nothing more than a scam.
Key is held in high regard by many New Zealanders, and his popularity is set to rise again now he has remained defiant over continued requests for him to attend the conference.
Leaked emails and computer data now circulating around the internet show a collaborative effort between climate scientists has been the main reason for the Global Warming/Climate crisis.
The released data clearly show efforts to include fabricated data in computer simulation programs in an effort to convince the public of false concerns over man-made global warming.
US president Obama is expected to try to salvage the climate conference which is now being called into question from all corners of the globe.

ClimateGate – the Truth is Finally Set Free
So the Global Warming debate has now been blown wide open by the leaking of emails and other digital documents which give evidence of a grand conspiracy to mislead the public about global temperatures.
Climategate has now overtake global warming on google as a search term, and internet blogs are running hot with postings that expose the entire global warming industry for what it is: a revenue earner for scientists and politicians who are prepared to sell that which they truly do not believe in.
We have been given permission to publish the following article from the PrisonPlanet website.
NucEngineer Says:
November 29th, 2009 at 9:48 am
An easy explanation of what ClimateGate means,
ClimateGate emails and computer programs were taken from a main server at the Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia. It is not known if this was a theft or the actions of a whistleblower, disgusted with what the lead scientists at CRU were doing.
ClimateGate exposed the cabal of 20 – 30 scientists (not just at CRU) that peer reviewed each others papers, strong-armed scientific journals to only print their views, and then sat on the IPCC panels as authors judging which published studies go into the IPCC final reports. This is why they always keep shouting “peer reviewed studies, peer reviewed studies, peer reviewed studies”. They owned the peer review process.
ClimateGate exposed that this small group has been adding positive corrections to the raw global temperature data, inflating the amount of published temperature rise over the last 50 years. Both CRU in the UK and NASA-GISS in the US add these biases. At CRU, the programmers did not even know what and why some corrections were added every month. Only since satellite monitoring for comparison have the amounts of biasing leveled off.
ClimateGate exposed the leaders of this cabal instructing each other to delete emails, data files, and data analysis programs ahead of already filed Freedom Of Information Act requests for raw data and computer codes, clearly a crime.
ClimateGate exposed the “trick” about the Hockey stick figure and other studies that performed proxy construction of past temperatures. After all, reconstruction of the last 1,000 years of climate is the first step in predicting the future with super computer programs as explained below:
Everything about all 21 super computer programs used by the IPCC to determine future global warming rely on best-determined past sensitivities to solar and volcanic effects (climate forcings) from the proxy temperature record.
1. The elimination of the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age (the handle of the hockey stick) was necessary so that past solar effects could be minimized, thereby allowing almost all of the warming in the last 75 years to be blamed on Greenhouse Gasses. Raw data (like tree-ring thickness, radioisotope of mud layers in a lake bottom, ice core analyses, etc.) are used as a proxy for reconstruction of the temperature record for 1000 AD to 1960 AD. To ensure desired results, statistical manipulation of the raw data and selecting only supporting data, cherry-picking, was suspected and later proved.
2. The slope of long-term 10-year running average global temperature using thermometers from 1900 to present (the blade of the hockey stick) was maximized with the sloppy gridding code, Urban Heat Island effects, hiding the declines, and even fabricating data (documented in the leaked source code comments revealed with ClimateGate). This ensured that the Greenhouse Gas effect coefficient in all 21 of the super computers was maximized, and that maximizes the temperature result at year 2100 based on Greenhouse Gas increases. This thermometer data was used to replace the tree ring-divergence after 1960 and plot this over the climate history data of (1) above giving the false impression that the reconstructed 1000 AD to 1960 AD results are more accurate than they are.
3. Because tuning of the super computer programs uses back casting, the computer outputs could always replicate the 20th Century (by design); therefore it was assumed that the models had almost everything in them. Because of (1) and (2) above, nearly all climate change predicted by the models was due to CO2 and positive feedbacks and hardly any of the climate change was for other reasons like solar, understood or not.
4. Over the years, when better numbers for volcanic effects, black carbon, aerosols, land use, ocean and atmospheric multi-decadal cycles, etc. became available, it appears that CRU made revisions to refit the back cast, but could hardly understand what the code was doing due to previous correction factor fudging and outright fabricating, as documented in the released code as part of ClimateGate.
5. After the IPCC averages the 21 super computer outputs of future projected warming (anywhere from 2-degrees to 7-degrees, not very precise), that output is used to predict all manner of catastrophes. (Fires, floods, droughts, blizzards, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, insects, extinctions, diseases, civil wars, cats & dogs sleeping together, etc.)
So shut-up or be called a denier,
live the way we tell you to live,
pay more for everything, and
just send money for my research on the effects of global climate change on horseshoe crabs (which have been around for about 440 million years through all possible temperature ranges).
I hope that this makes the ClimateGate controversy easier to understand.
- end of article.
Blog posts like this abound on the internet now, even as mainstream, corporate owned media spiel out even more desperate pleas to the masses.
Perhaps the most telling fact is that the scientists themselves have not denied writing the emails.
For many of us, the entire global warming argument has seemed an obvious jackup from day one. A great way to sell a bunch of books and hand out Nobel peace prizes to all and sundry.
Now that the truth behind the scam has been exposed we are finally vindicated.
Sometimes conspiracy theories, like any other theories, are right.

New Zealand Rocket Launch Delayed
The launch of New Zealand’s first suborbital rocket has been delayed this morning due to a technical problem.
The Atea-1, due to be launched from Great Mercury Island is to be propelled by a revolutionary type of fuel and jet/rocket motor. The rocket along with its 2kg payload of experimental computer equipment is expected to reach a height of 120km above the earth’s surface, officially 20km into the realm of space.
The launch has been delayed by nitrous oxide causing a coupling to freeze – spilling the vapour and all but putting to and end hopes of a launch today.
Development of the rocket by privately owned aerospace company Rocket Lab, has taken over three years and mainly been funded by private investment, with an injection of funding from the New Zealand government. If successful, the launch will mark the first time a privately owned company has launched a rocket into space from the southern hemisphere.
New Zealand is well known for its clean-green image and the creators of the rocket are keen to promote the idea of using “green” technologies in their work. The Atea-1 has been designed to operate extremely efficiently with a brand new motor and fuel combination that drastically reduces emissions and environmental impacts.
The cutting edge technology will set a new benchmark in rocket propulsion and put New Zealand at the forefront of space development. It is envisaged that once the technology has been proven by the initial launch then it will be emulated in larger rockets. For many, the reduction of environmental impact is seen as a huge boost to the entire space programme which has long been seen as wasteful and a big polluter.

Fonterra to condemn executions?
Human rights groups are demanding that Fonterra and the New Zealand government to condemn the executions in China over the contaminated milk saga.
State sanctioned executions are never good, and sympathy for the familes affected is natural. Maybe the NZ govt and Fonterra should condemn the executions. In my opinion, Fonterra should be taking more responsibility for the whole affair, and the way I see it, Fonterra management have blood on their hands.
Of course, Fonterra are a massive player in the global dairy industry, and are hardly likely to take notice of a solitary blogger, but it WAS known that the dodgy contamination practises were occuring and company anagement could have acted sooner to clamp down on it.
Fonterra is collectively owned by thouands of dairy farmers who each should be ashamed at their own greed which has, directly or indirectly, had some part in the execution of two chinese men.
Condemn corporate greed I say.
