New Zealand Holiday – Climate
The Winterless north – to the Winterwonderland

The East Cape of the North Island in mid-summer.
Situated in the temperate zone of the Southern Hemisphere, New Zealand is subject to reasonably mild temperatures year round, making conditions perfect for both summer and winter sports and outdoor pursuits. Northern cities such as Auckland and Hamilton never receive snow whereas it is common during winter in some South Island cities and mountain ranges. During summer you can expect temperatures to range between 12 to 26 degrees celsius (53 to 78 fahrenheit) in most areas. In winter expect temperatures to range mainly between 8 to 20 degress celsius (46 to 76 fahrenheit) in the North Island and a few degrees lower in the South Island.

Build a snowman or carve up the powder at New Zealand's ski resorts. Ski season normally runs from July to October with ski fields in both the North and South Islands.
The ski resort areas located in the Central Plateau of the North Island, and Southern Alps in the South Island, are subject to much lower temperatures due to their altitude. No wintertime New Zealand holiday is complete without hitting the slopes at least once. A single website contains overviews including up-to-date snow and weather conditions for all New Zealand ski resorts. You can click here to visit the website.
Snow skiing is usually possible from July through October, although occasionally this period can extend well into November. The real possibility exists in New Zealand to be snow skiing in the morning and water skiing in the afternoon.
